There is a buzz that the Indian government is planning to change "India" to "Bharat" so that everywhere, irrespective of the language, the country would be known as Bharat. If it does happen, the name change may spell an identity crisis for websites using .IN in their names.

If tomorrow India is called Bharat all across the web, it would be a good idea to also have a new TLD for the country’s websites. Say something like .BH or .BR would be perfect. Even .BT might work. Unfortunately, all these TLDs have already been taken.

The .BH belongs to Bahrain. The .BR belongs to Brazil. The .BT belongs to Bhutan.
