Swayam, which stands for "Study Webs of
Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds," is an online platform in India
that offers free courses and learning resources to students and learners of all
ages. It is an initiative by the Government of India's Ministry of Education
(formerly known as the Ministry of Human Resource Development) to provide
high-quality education and promote lifelong learning.
Key features of the Swayam portal include:
- Free Courses: Swayam offers a wide range of
courses covering various subjects and disciplines, including arts,
science, engineering, technology, humanities, and more. These courses are
provided by universities and institutions across India.
- MOOCs
(Massive Open Online Courses):

To ensure that the best quality content is produced and delivered certificates from nine National Coordinators have been appointed. They are:
- AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) for self-paced and international courses
- NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning) for Engineering
- UGC (University Grants Commission) for non technical post-graduation education
- CEC (Consortium for Educational Communication) for under-graduate education
- NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training) for school education
- NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) for school education
- IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) for out-of-school students
- IIMB (Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore) for management studies
- NITTTR (National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research) for Teacher Training programme
How to Get SWAYAM Certification
To obtain a certificate from the SWAYAM portal, you
typically need to follow these steps:
- Register on
the SWAYAM Portal:
- Visit the
official SWAYAM website.
You can also download the app from Play Store.
- Create an
account by providing the necessary details like your name, email address,
and mobile number.
- Course
Enrollment:
- Log in to
your SWAYAM account.
- Browse
through the list of available courses and select the one you want to
enroll in.
- Click on the
"Enroll Now" or similar button for the course you've chosen.
- Complete the
Course:
- After
enrolling, you'll have access to the course materials, which may include
video lectures, reading materials, assignments, quizzes, and discussion
forums.
- Complete all
the course requirements, including watching lectures, submitting
assignments, and passing quizzes or exams, depending on the course's
structure and requirements.
